Day 3
Happy morning wonderful people! Today we are going to work a little deeper with the concept of mindfulness. Below you will find a short video sharing with you my definition and approach to mindfulness. In the morning meditation we are going to practice non-judgement on the mind with this technique.
Let’s do a couple minutes brain training.
topic of the day: mind is the mind is like a wild stallion
The mind is like a wild stallion whom we are wanting to tame. We expect we can just jump on its back. In reality do you think this would be the case? Imagine that for a moment. So how do we train a stallion?
With mutual respect, space and without pressure or deadline.
However, we do have a goal in mind. That goal is of mutual benefit. It must be a win-win for both sides. We need to consider this in how we treat the mind.
So what do we actually do? We build trust, a bond, relationship, a win-win and incentive for each side. We slowly build that; step by step. To do this we would get a long rope and slowly reduce the length of that rope until the stallion lets us pet it and until the bond is cemented by positive reinforcement.
Think about your mind in this way - where do we need to give more respect, space, longer reign, and where are we NOT giving positive reinforcement. Are you willing to change how you speak to your mind?
Think or write about how you’re feeling
what are your pitfalls?
what is a barrier for you?
what is working well?
Here is the extra video if you’re interested in this concept of ‘observing the mind’. It’s a deep yogic philosophy, one of my favourites.
