Getting back into things (for longevity)

Sometimes, we set goals for ourselves to accomplish, but are often put off by it from our own doubts of accomplishing these goals. I have been on a run. I didn’t find it easy and I struggled with my run. I don’t know where you are with your fitness level now and what you’re doing, however, I just wanted to tell you that I may have started running, but I haven’t gotten straight into it. I also wanted to talk about your ability to do what you want to do. I just want to drive it home again about mindset.

Whenever we try to do something, we either procrastinate and don’t do it anyway; or we have set our expectations too high and end up falling halfway through.

I want to remind you about taking baby steps.

Personally, I have been doing the couch to 5k and it took me three weeks to get into the second week. You can do it however you wish, and it doesn’t have to be running. Running may not be something you enjoy. I have been struggling with my energy and weight, as well as struggling with good food and bad food, hence why I decided to go for a run.

Whether it’s doing a few squats in the morning or just laying down and doing something with your legs or doing a plank; whatever it may be,

Taking baby steps is very important.

Often, we set big goals and tell ourselves to cut out everything. We may even tell ourselves we’ll start exercising 5 times a week. This doesn’t work well as we are asking ourselves to make drastic changes, which are then difficult to stick to because they’ve become too big to handle. We need to set smaller goals that will help us gradually build up to bigger goals.

I use an app which helps me stick to my small goals during my runs. It allows me to take my breaks in between runs so I don’t end up overworking myself, and when I’m ready to go for a run again it lets me know I can start running again.

Most importantly, whatever it is that you think you want to do.

You can do it.

Trust me, you can do it if you take baby steps. Don’t overwhelm yourself. Don’t think of it as a massive goal.

I didn’t set out on my run thinking I would be doing 8 runs of 6 minutes. I just put my trainers on, and I set off. I started listening to my music and I just followed it step by step.

So, think about what it is you want to get back into. Think about what it is you want to today, gather your motivation, and just start. Don’t beat yourself up by having an unachievable goal; remember your baby steps. Sometimes, we require a little bit of telling to help us stay motivated to want to stick to our goals. I know you can do it because I am the same as you.

I often struggle sticking to my goals with food, exercise, mindset, and meditation; so, just start.

Have confidence in yourself and remind yourself that this is for the long haul. If you want to change your lifestyle; if you want to change something about yourself; if you want to get into something; take baby steps. it’s not about throwing yourself into it because you will burn out trust me, I have experienced this, and I ended up learning this the hard way.
